A tragic workplace accident is under investigation after a worker at the Ford Motor Company transmission plant in Sharonville died Monday following an incident involving industrial machinery.
According to Sharonville police, first responders were dispatched around 9:45 a.m. to the facility on East Sharon Road after reports of an industrial accident. Authorities said a press machine that was undergoing routine maintenance unexpectedly turned on, pinning the worker inside the equipment.
Emergency crews worked quickly to free the worker from the machine. Medics immediately began life-saving measures before transporting the victim to Bethesda North Hospital. Despite those efforts, the worker later died at the hospital, police confirmed.
Officials stated that multiple employees witnessed the incident, which is currently being treated as an industrial accident. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
The investigation is ongoing and involves the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and representatives from Ford Motor Company. Authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
The Sharonville Ford Transmission Plant is one of the company’s major facilities, producing thousands of transmissions each day and employing more than 2,000 workers inside its massive 2.4-million-square-foot complex.
